"You are the salt of the earth, you are the light of the world. Let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven" Matt. 5:13
Are you salt and light in the world? Jesus says you are. Salt preserves and adds a boost of flavor while light administers illumination. We are to be a preserving and radiant influence for God while residing in this dark cruel world. If we're not set apart by our speech, attitude, generosity or lifestyle, we mind as well be like everyone else in the world. There would be no use for us says Matthew 5:13. Does this mean we have to be perfect? No, but we have to try to live according to God's commands. When we fall (and we will) we must quickly get back up, dust ourselves off, and get back on course, even if we have to do it a thousand times.
"Let your conversation be always full of grace, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how to answer everyone" Colossians 4:6. When we are conversing with people the words that we speak should edify, encourage and at times correct people in love. We must pay attention to and refrain from the urge to spread and listen to juicy gossip. That is a hard one y'all lol! "Let no unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen" Ephesians 4:29. Dirty jokes, curse words and slander are considered unwholesome words and can be offensive to people. These are areas we all need to work on. Let's watch the words we say making sure we are respectful and gracious so that we leave a wonderful taste in a person’s mouth. We want people to have good things to say about us, but the most important goal is for people to be drawn to the God who lives in us.Be a light in the world! Don't be ashamed to publicly live your life for Christ before men. The world needs to see your light. Your light should bring hope and inspiration. Standing up for what is right and not following the crowd is being a light. Helping those in need is being a light. Not everyone is called to be a Pastor. Your platform or pulpit for Jesus is where ever your feet tread. People are watching your life wanting a "true child of God" to stand up. Again, this does not mean you have to be perfect, but doing your best at being the salt and light of the world.

Thanks Ty for another wonderful entry. I really like the part about the salt and the light. Very cool. I always feel uplifted and encourage that G-d does care about me and that I be a true women of G-d even though everything at times might be against me. Thanks again.
